turmeric dill rice

This aromatic and energizing rice has a subtle flavor of dill, which can clear sinuses and reduce congestion. Turmeric invigorates the blood and detoxifies the liver, particularly important in the Spring season.


1 tbsp. ghee

1 c. basmati rice

1 tsp. salt (to taste)

1½ c. hot water

1 tsp. turmeric

½ c. finely chopped dill

1 tsp. lime juice


• Wash rice thoroughly

• Soak in water for 20 minutes

• Drain in strainer


  • In a large heavy bottomed pan, heat the ghee on medium heat
  • Add the rice and salt, coating the rice completely
  • Add the hot water and turmeric
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat, then cook until most of the water is absorbed
  • Add the finely chopped dill and lime juice and stir very gently, so as not to break up the rice
  • Cover and simmer for 10 minutes until rice is completely cooked
  • Fluff with a fork and let it rest for a few minutes
  • Serve hot
